Methodology
Shiny Smiles Veneers surveyed 1,002 Americans on August 25, 2023, to ask about Halloween candy and how it impacts their teeth. According to the survey, respondents ranged in age from 18 to 76 years old and were 47% female, 50% male, and 3% nonbinary.
Interestingly, candy corn ranked as the top Halloween candy people hated getting, followed by two cinnamon-spiced sweets, Hot Tamales and the Atomic Fireballs.
According to Candystore.com, the most hated, most rejected candy of them all is the venerable Circus Peanuts. The orange, sponge-like nuggets have returned to lead the worst-candy list after being edged out by candy corn as the "Halloween candy everyone loves to hate."

The classic combination of peanut butter and chocolate. It's simple yet mouthwatering for adults and children alike. Reese's is so beloved that it's the top-selling candy brand in America, with more than $2 billion in annual sales.
1: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. This perennial favorite easily finished first in the candy derby, earning the title of most popular Halloween candy in 18 states, including densely populated ones like California, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.
Snickers is the top-selling candy bar in the United States and is produced by Mars, Inc. This classic chocolate bar is made with nougat, caramel, and peanuts, and it has been a favourite among Americans since its introduction in 1930. Small, hard candies, like jelly beans, can be especially dangerous. Children ages two to three may be able to have candy that easily melts, like small pieces of chocolate or puffed candy. Cotton candy is one of the safest choices because it completely dissolves when it comes into contact with saliva.
According to one 19th century English writer "parties of children, dressed up in fantastic costume […] went round to the farm houses and cottages, singing a song, and begging for cakes (spoken of as "soal-cakes"), apples, money, or anything that the goodwives would give them".
Kit Kat, in second place, has “higher traces of vitamin D, iron, calcium and potassium” compared to Reese's Sticks and a relatively lower fat content compared to the others. Snickers just avoided the last slot because it has less saturated fat than Twix, which Valdez deemed “the worst candy of the choices.”
Anything that has caramel in it. Caramel is so bad for teeth because it's sticky and will stick to teeth and braces, retainers, or fillings. If you do eat caramel, it's best to brush and floss after. Sour candies.
