- Assuming the condition has been met, on Rank 9, a dialogue tree of options will have to be followed: choose "I want to keep seeing you." (has no romantic prompt), followed by "I mean what I say." (indicated to be an important choice), finally ending with "I'm a man; you're a woman."

To progress to Rank 10, a cutscene must be viewed which occurs automatically on the first school day the protagonist is present at after Rank 9 is attained. Afterwards, the player can initiate Rank 10 on any day of the week, even if the Confidant icon is not present on the map.
