Mexican candy is unique and unlike any other candy out there. Often made from ingredients and flavors like tamarind, chamoy, cajeta, dulce de leche, and milk chocolate, Mexican candy is becoming more and more popular in the United States.

I used to visit my grandparents in Mexico every summer as a kid, and one of my favorite things to do while I was there was to visit various Mexican candy stores and buy huge bags of my favorite kinds and bring them back to the states with me.

Luckily, finding these sweet treats is becoming a little easier here. Many large retailers now carry popular varieties and purchasing them online is more convenient than ever.

1. Mazapan

This popular Mexican peanut candy from De la Rosa is a sweet and crumbly confection made primarily from ground peanuts and sugar. It’s sold in small discs wrapped in cellophane and comes in two varieties: original and chocolate covered mazapan. (Get Mazapan or make it at home!)

2. Rebanaditas

Lollipops covered in a spicy chili powder are a staple in Mexican candy stores, and this watermelon flavor is by far the most popular variety! The coating is made from a tamarind and chili powder mixture that’s subtly sweet, tangy, and spicy. (Get Rebanaditas.)

3. Duvalin

This creamy and spreadable candy is a classic in Mexican candy stores. Packaged in small individual containers that come with a plastic spoon, Duvalin comes in a variety of flavors including a creamy hazelnut, strawberry, and vanilla spread. (Get Duvalin.)

4. Pulparindo

Pulparindo is a chewy and savory candy made from a mixture of tamarind, chili powder, and salt. It comes in a variety of flavors including original, mango, and watermelon, and is packaged as a small bar that almost looks like fruit leather. (Get Pulparindo.)

8. Obleas con Cajeta

These milk candy wafers consist of sweet Mexican cajeta sandwiched in between two thin and round wafers. They’re individually wrapped and are a melt-in-your-mouth milk candy treat! (Get Obleas con Cajeta.)

9. Tomy

This bite-sized hard candy is cajeta and dulce de leche flavored, reminiscent of American butterscotch candies. They’re sweet but not overly so, and are the perfect little candy to keep in your purse or pocket! (Get Tomy.)
