1. Oat Haus Brownie Batter Granola Butter
Nut-Free Chocolate Spread Guide – Em's NutFree Eats (2)

Oat Haus Granola Butter makes the list of my top nut-free product finds EVER! It’s unique, fun, and incredibly delicious. Granola butter is free of the top 8 allergens, made with a few simple ingredients, and produced in a dedicated top 8 facility. The texture is slightly crunchy, and it has a drippy consistency, so I wouldn’t call it a dupe for Nutella, but it’s still a must-try. I eat their chocolatey Brownie Batter flavor on toast, straight out of the jar, or drizzled on ice cream like magic shell! They also sell amazing flavors like Strawberry Shortcake, Birthday Cake, Cookie Dough, and Banana Bread!

-Where to Buy: Oat Haus website (10% off using this link!), Oat Haus on Amazon, Target

2. Chocolate SunButter
Nut-Free Chocolate Spread Guide – Em's NutFree Eats (3)

Chocolate SunButter is a newer addition to the SunButter line that I can’t believe I lived without for so long! This is the spread with the most similar consistency (and taste according to my sisters) to Nutella. It’s creamy, buttery, and just sweet enough without being too overpowering. It’s made in a dedicated top 8 free facility, and it’s also one of the least sunflower seed-tasting butters I’ve tried. This is my go-to spread for substituting nut butters in recipe. It’s also so good swirled into brownies and as a topping on any chocolatey baked good!

-Where to Buy: SunButter on Amazon, select Target stores

3. 88 Acres Dark Chocolate Sunflower Seed Butter
Nut-Free Chocolate Spread Guide – Em's NutFree Eats (4)

88 Acres is one of the very first allergy-friendly brands I discovered. They make delicious seed bars, granola, and a wide range of seed butters, and everything is made in a dedicated top 8 allergen free facility. Their dark chocolate sunflower seed butter is one of my favorite products they make. It has a pretty drippy consistency and is very chocolatey. It’s also a little nuttier-tasting than some of the other spreads on this list. I like using this one in most of my puppy chow recipes, and it’s also great in smoothies and recipes that call for a more drippy consistency nut or seed butter.

-Where To Buy: 88 Acres on Amazon, select Target, Whole Foods, and Sprouts stores

4. Healthy Crunch Chocolate Sunseed Butter

Healthy Crunch is a new-to-me allergy-friendly brand that I discovered recently at Sprouts! They sell products in the US and Canada and offer a range of seed butters, jams, and granola bars. Their sunset butter comes in chocolate and chocolate banana. I found it to be a little too sweet for my taste, but the texture is super smooth and creamy and definitely quite similar to Nutella. All Healthy Crunch products are made in a facility free of the top 8 allergens.

-Where To Buy: Healthy Crunch on Amazon, select Sprouts stores

5. Beyond the Equator Chocolate 5 Seed Butter
Nut-Free Chocolate Spread Guide – Em's NutFree Eats (6)

Beyond the Equator sells a line of healthy and allergy-friendly 5 seed butters. Made of chia, flax, pumpkin, sunflower, and hemp, all their products are free of the top 8 allergens and made in a dedicated facility. While I have not personally tried their products, I’ve heard great things from members of the food allergy community. They have a few different varieties, but the chocolate is one of their best sellers. Definitely check this one out if you’re looking for a healthy, nutrient dense option.

-Where To Buy: Beyond the Equator on Amazon

6. Brass Roots Chocolate Sacha Inchi Butter
Nut-Free Chocolate Spread Guide – Em's NutFree Eats (7)

Another top 8 allergen free option, Brass Roots Chocolate Sacha Inchi Butter is a great a fabulous Nutella dupe. It’s made in a dedicated allergen friendly facility with a few simple ingredients. Sacha Inchi is a Peruvian seed, and while it does taste very nutty, it’s completely safe for those nut allergies. This chocolate spread is definitely one of the more nutty tasting options in this guide. It also has a very thick and creamy texture and is a great option if you’re looking for something with more protein!

-Where To Buy: Brass Roots on Amazon, select Sprouts stores

7. Jubli Cocoa Sesame Butter
Nut-Free Chocolate Spread Guide – Em's NutFree Eats (8)

Jubli is a newer allergy-friendly company that makes sesame butter that’s completely free of the top 8 allergens. I first tried Jubli when I ordered it on Basquet, a dedicated allergy-friendly grocery delivery service. It’s velvety smooth, perfectly sweet, and has just the right amount of chocolate. While it does contain sesame, a top 8 allergen, Jubli is totally nut allergy safe, as well as safe for those allergic to the top 8 allergens. It’s not currently sold in any stores but can be purchased various places online.

-Where To Buy: Jubli on Amazon, Basquet (Code “EMSNUTFREEEATS” for 20% off)

8. Soom Chocolate Tahini
Nut-Free Chocolate Spread Guide – Em's NutFree Eats (9)

Soom is one of the more well known health and wellness brands in this guide that makes delicious tahini. All their spreads are made with only 3 ingredients! The tahini in jars is made in a nut-free facility, but note that the squeeze packets are produced in a separate facility that does handle peanuts and tree nuts. The consistency is quite liquidy compared to the other spreads in this guide, as it’s very similar to the texture of regular tahini. It does have a sesame-like taste and is one of the least sweet spreads mentioned in this guide. Soom is great if you’re looking for something with few ingredients that’s more health-conscious. They also sell a dark chocolate version!

-Where To Buy: Soom on Amazon

9. Field Trip Chocolate Chickpea Butter
Nut-Free Chocolate Spread Guide – Em's NutFree Eats (10)

Field Trip Snacks makes delicious chickpea butter that’s made in a dedicated facility free of the top 8 allergens. The consistency is much thicker than some of the other chocolate spreads in this guide, so I don’t recommend using it as a substitute in baking or recipes. It is however a delicious spread for sandwiches and has a similar texture to soy butter and thicker nut butter spreads. It is also difficult to find in stores but available online as well as on Amazon!

-Where To Buy: Field Trip Snacks on Amazon

10. The Amazing Chickpea Chocolatey Chickpea Spread
Nut-Free Chocolate Spread Guide – Em's NutFree Eats (11)

The Amazing Chickpea makes top 8 allergen free chickpea-based spreads, as well as allergy-friendly baking mixes, in a dedicated nut-free facility. While I personally haven’t tried this spread, it’s described as having a silky smooth texture and rich flavor as well as a peanut buttery taste. I’ve heard this is most similar to the consistency of SunButter and closely mirrors the texture of Nutella, but tastes much more like nuts than the other nut-free spreads in this guide. Currently, it’s available on their website and Amazon.

-Where To Buy: The Amazing Chickpea on Amazon

11. Finally Chickpea Cocoa Spread
Nut-Free Chocolate Spread Guide – Em's NutFree Eats (12)

My most recent chocolate spread find in this guide, Finally! Snacks was a brand I discovered at the 2022 Expo West Convention. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and founded by a food allergy dad, Finally! Snacks make delicious chickpea spreads that are free of the top 8 allergens. I got to sample all their spread flavors at the Expo and was SO IMPRESSED! They’re thicker and more buttery (as opposed to oily) than some of the other brands on this list, and all taste so good! This spread is more something I would eat out of the jar with a spoon for dessert, but it’s definitely one of my personal favorites on this list.

-Where To Buy: Finally website

12. VGood HazelNOT Choc Chickpea Butter
Nut-Free Chocolate Spread Guide – Em's NutFree Eats (13)

VGood is an international brand that just recently expanded to the United States. They make chickpea butter in a dedicated facility free of the top 14 allergens. Their HazelNOT Choc Chickpea Butter has a relatively thick texture and nutty-like aftertaste. This spread definitely mirrors the hazelnut notes of Nutellas if that’s something you’re looking for. While it’s not yet sold in stores, you can order it directly from the VGood US website.

-Where To Buy: VGood website

13. Noble Bird Chocolate Chickpea Butter
Nut-Free Chocolate Spread Guide – Em's NutFree Eats (14)

Noble Bird is a dedicated nut and dairy free restaurant in Long Beach, CA that also makes their own chickpea butter in house. It’s absolutely delicious! It’s super smooth and creamy, has the perfect amount of drippiness, and doesn’t taste like chickpeas at all. Their butters are all top 14 allergen free although they do contain a warning label for the allergens that are present in the kitchen (wheat, sesame, soy, and egg.) You can only buy it at the restaurant, but if you’re in the LA area, I highly recommend making the trek out to Noble Bird. It is a fantastic restaurant with great rotisserie chicken and a variety of healthy options. It’s also owned by a food allergy family, and they can accommodate all food allergies, even those outside of the top 8!

-Where To Buy: At Noble Bird Rotisserie restaurant in Long Beach
