Male gymnasts wear different outfits during competition and practice. For workouts, a sleeveless compression shirt is best. For competition a competition shirt, often referred to as a gymnastics singlet, is worn. The singlet is required to be paired with long pants during rings, pommel horse, parallel bars, and high bar. Shorts are worn for floor exercise and vault.
A warm-up jacket is often worn over the singlet prior to the start of competition and in between events. It's always important to wear coordinating socks and for the leotard to fit snug.
