I had a blast attending and speaking at SQL Saturday in Richmond this past weekend. I listened to great sessions by Kevin Bradley on dashboarding strategies and Reid Schmidling on integrating AI, Power Automate, Teams, and Power BI. It was also great meeting so many IT professionals from the region like Carlos L Chacon and Leslie Welch. Thanks to Jamie Wick and the Richmond SQL Users Group for putting together such a nice event. If you're a data professional or striving to be one, SQL Saturdays are a wonderful way to learn for free. Check for the next event at: sqlsaturday.com

With GPT-4o arriving to Azure OpenAI this week, I got to test the new model with my process for automatically commenting Power Query code. It's definitely faster and from my tests, the process completed quicker in Gen1 and Gen2 dataflows. Interested in using Azure OpenAI to comment your Power Query code in Power BI? Check out my article on the subject: https://lnkd.in/eDbhehts

I was pleased to see the DAX Query View (DQV) go generally available for Power BI Desktop yesterday. DQV lays the foundation to easily couple your tests with your semantic model. Not sure how to do this? Check out my article on implementing a testing pattern with DQV: https://lnkd.in/eSsu3yhWIf you want to see how to combine the Power BI Project format (PBIP) and this testing pattern, also check out my video: https://lnkd.in/ehiZJZzd

Back in 2020, I attended and spoke at my first Power BI Days. It was a wonderful experience, I met so many people, and learned so much about Power BI. Well, I'm glad to hear that Leslie Welch and Lenore Flower have brought it back this June 20th (Thu.) and June 21st (Fri.) at the Microsoft Office in Arlington, VA (metro accessible). This is a free event which will touch on Power BI and Fabric, but it will also have a federal-specific learning path. For all my fellow GCC users, this is a welcomed learning path that gives Federal staff and contractors information pertinent to the environment they work in.Register today: https://lnkd.in/e4KzVdrz

The great thing about learning Git and sharing code on GitHub, is you open it to the community to provide feedback. Thanks to https://lnkd.in/ed6SGrRD, we just updated the YAML code for the "PBIP Deployment & DAX Query View Testing (DQV) Pattern" to support different folder configurations for workspaces. If you're interested in automating the deployment and testing of Power BI semantic models/reports, please see this article: https://lnkd.in/gTMVASSp

A great example from Zakia Messaoudi on following a standard schema with DAX for testing. Zakia is bringing #DataOps to Power BI!
