The Role of a Teacher:
Teachers are not mere educators but mentors, coaches, friends, and champions for every learner they touch. Throughout history, we've witnessed the incredible teacher-student duos that have shaped the world, from Dronacharya and Arjun to Ramakant Achrekar and Sachin Tendulkar. Every young person needs a guiding light, and teachers fulfil that role.
The Challenges of Teaching:
While teaching is a noble profession, it can also be challenging. Balancing diverse learning needs, adapting to changing educational trends, and managing administrative tasks and pay disparities can be overwhelming. However, it's crucial to remember that being a teacher is not just a job; it's a privilege to help young people realize their potential. When faced with difficulties, it's essential to look at the brighter side and view each challenge as an opportunity for growth. This is what I've discovered in the last few years of working as a teacher.

For me, witnessing the evolution of my students is a huge motivator.
2. Connect with Students- Embrace the diversity of your students, from their backgrounds to their interests. As a teacher, you have the privilege of helping them realize their potential. Be a friend, philosopher, and guide to your students, and remember that teaching is a two-way street; you can learn immensely from your students.In the past years, I've learned a bit of Tamil, explored K-Pop, taken a virtual tour of Zimbabwe, and, above all, inculcated patience and empathy, all thanks to my students.
3. Connect with Your Colleagues- Teaching can sometimes be a solitary journey. Thus, it's essential to support and uplift your fellow teachers. Collaborate, share experiences, and inspire one another to create more impactful learning environments. Teachers are passionate, empathetic, curious, and creative individuals, and being around them is a joy in itself. Teaching remotely, my fellow teachers and I stay in touch through regular phone calls, WhatsApp conversations and occasional meet-ups to celebrate our triumphs and overcome our challenges.
4. Look at the Bright Side- Teaching offers unique perks that few other professions can match. The joy of seeing people learn, fostering lifelong learning, and personal growth are just a few of the rewards. The ever-evolving nature of teaching ensures that there are no dull days, as each day brings new discoveries and learning experiences.

In our VUCA world (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous), teachers have both the opportunity and responsibility to upskill themselves continually. Tools such as Design Thinking, Innovative Thinking, Gamification, and Social-Emotional Learning can enhance the teaching experience. Embracing educational technology can make classes more engaging and inclusive, turning teachers into catalysts for students' desire to learn and grow.
