Santa advises that no family member touch their Elf on the Shelf, but he does describe a few rare instances when an adult may use tongs or potholders to help an elf in an urgent situation. Parents: read on to learn about special, few and far between cases where emergency help will be required.
- Your Scout Elf was tired and fell off the shelf. When the weather is extremely windy or snowy, Scout Elves work really hard to fly back to their families’ homes. In these cases, elves will be more tired than usual, and they might doze off and fall. If this happens, a parent can use potholders to help them back onto their post.
- Your Scout Elf landed in a great spot, but then, the dog spotted them. Scout Elves are constantly thinking of unique places to sit; however, if they accidentally sit in a dog’s line of sight, adults should use tongs to move them so they don’t get hurt!
- Your Scout Elf lost their balance and fell from their spot. Sometimes, the ledges Scout Elves choose to sit on are a bit too small, and before you know it, they lose their balance. Grown-ups—use the Santa-approved special tools to help your elf out if this happens!
- Your Scout Elf made a huge mess that needs to be cleaned up. Some elves are especially creative, building extravagant surprises for their families. If your elf gets carried away with their creativity, making a big mess, mom or dad may need to move the elf, so kids can pitch in and help tidy the area!
- Your Scout Elf landed on something you need to use. If little ones find their Scout Elf sitting on something they need to use, like relaxing in their sink, lying on their bookbag or hanging on their clothes, then it is okay for parents to move the elf, so kids can complete their morning routine and elves can get back to their important job!
- Your Scout Elf fell in something that they can’t stay in all day. When creating their landing surprise, at times, Scout Elves rely on materials like water or food supplies. On the slim chance they fell into water or food, adults are able to use potholders or tongs to place them in a safer spot.
